Roster Role: 6:30pm Prayers

Leading prayer during the service is more than a reading of prayer points from the newsletter but it’s a vital part of ministry in our Sunday gatherings as you help us prepare and respond to God’s Word. Your prayers can often be a model and encouragement for those you are leading in prayer.  

• Prepare your prayer before Sunday night. It can be helpful reading through the passage that will be preached and looking at the prayer points from our weekly newsletter
• Pay attention to the run-sheet’s instructions, straight up after song means straight away
• Introduce yourself and if prayer hasn’t been introduced already, it can be helpful especially for the youth and newcomers to remind them what prayer is

What to pray about?

The weekly church news email will include a range of suggested prayer points.  These come from our church prayer schedule which helps make sure we cover a wide range of topics over time by scheduling certain prayer points each week.  Please use these points as your guide.

• Note that the list is designed to inspire, not to restrict! Feel free to add any recent/upcoming events or topical issues that deserve prayer.  And if you don't feel able to cover all the points listed that's OK.
• Generally, the blurbs describe what to pray for - make sure you compose actual words of prayer rather than merely repeating the prayer point verbatim.
• Sometimes a fully-worded "prayer for X"" is provided. Feel free to express this in your own words, or to use the wording provided.
• A list of people in need is included each week, but these don't need to be included in prayers every single Sunday. It's up to you.
• The newsletter includes some names from the church directory for "prayer focus" during the week. These don't need to be included in Sunday prayers.
